You can keep your skin glowing in cold weather too. Cold weather deprives the skin of moisture and the skin becomes dry. If you want to make the skin healthy and look lustrous, you should follow a skin care regimen. This regimen comprises cleansing of the skin, exfoliating and moisturizing the skin as the essential steps. Particularly during cold weather these steps are very essential to make your skin glow. Simultaneously, you should also avoid skin care products and the routines that can make your skin dry. Otherwise your efforts to have a glowing skin in cold weather may not be effective. The vital steps you have to follow to keep your skin glowing in cold weather are discussed below.

You should drink enough water every day. This can prevent dry skin. Your tissues should be hydrated sufficiently and nourished properly, particularly in winter, to prevent skin becoming dry. Take enough fluid foods but avoid alcohol and caffeine. It is recommended that you take at least 8 – 10 glasses of water every day.

The next step is exfoliation. Once a week you should exfoliate your skin. You can use abody scrub for exfoliation before bathing. Dead skin cells are removed when you scrub the skin. This step is important if you need to keep your skin glowing in cold weather. You can prepare your own scrub too. Mix coarse sugar with coconut oil and apply the mixture on the skin. Now scrub the skin in circular motion, but gently. You can scrub any area of the body like this and then wash it off with lukewarm water.

The American Academy of Dermatology recommends skin brush as a treatment for dry skin. You have to get a special brush meant for this purpose. This is available in drugstores or you can also buy this online. Besides removing dead skin cells, skin brushing also stimulates your lymphatic system. This leads to a healthy circulation in your body. Start skin brushing right from your feet and use circular motions to make it more effective. Then you can skin brush the other areas of your body by moving up. Use short sweeping motions from shoulders and chest, down to your stomach.

Always use lukewarm water for cleansing purposes. The natural oil in your skin will be reduced if you use soapy hot water. Take bath only for a short while, such as 4 - 5 minutes. Do not have bubble baths containing alcohol and chemicals. Organic bath soak or natural bath soak is advisable.

Moisturize your skin with a good moisturizer containing healthy plant extracts and essential oils. Do not use deodorant soaps for washing as your skin may become dry. Moisturize your hands and cover with gloves in the day. Apply moisturizer to feet in the night and cover with socks. Brush your lips with a tooth brush to remove dead skin and moisturize using a lip balm. Vaseline has been found to be good for this. Cleanse your face once a day with a good cream cleanser. After cleansing apply moisturizer. Skip soap in the morning to retain oil in the facial skin. Use a facial lotion with sunscreen for the day. Use a gentle scrub and exfoliate your face twice a week.
